Franklin L. Spud was the secondary antagonist of the episodes Lawyer Up and FART STEP, as well as the cousin of another lawyer, Small Fry and a supporting character of the Annoying Orange. He first appeared after being summoned by his client, Zucchini, because Orange was annoying him. Orange, however, wasn't paying attention, as he was too busy whacking open his subpiñata. But when it was busted, instead of candy, he found that it was full of subpoenas. This angered Orange, and he decided that he also needed a lawyer. That was when Three-Layer Dip came in. Orange told him that he wanted to sue Zucchini for "being an apple". He then began arguing with Zucchini's lawyer, saying that he had attorney condiment privilege. Midget Apple realized that he was the only one without a lawyer, and that's when Small Fry came in. She said that "all she wanted to do was sue, sue, sue". Three-Layer Dip complained that that was his slogan, and decided that he would sue her. But then it was revealed that Franklin L. Spud was her cousin, and that he was about to get counter-sued. Midget Apple complained that his lawyer wasn't to be suing other people, but she did anyways, and Midget Apple then asked Three-Layer Dip for a case. Since he already had one, however, Midget Apple had to represent himself, and then everyone was bidding on the necklace that he was wearing, and suddenly the war between the lawyers became an auction until a litigator showed up and ate all of the lawyers and Zucchini. Midget Apple explained that being a cold-blooded reptile made him a good lawyer, but for some reason, the litigator was offended by this and decided to sue him before regurgitating Franklin L. Spud. Franklin re-appeared in FART STEP, with Skrillet as his client. Skrillet tried to claim Orange's spoof as his own, and he brought along Franklin to help him. Franklin even tried to [literally] take their freedom as well. After this, Skrillet wanted to see what else Orange and the gang were working on. Marshmallow joined in with Yaystep and Grandpa Lemon with Sleepstep. Shortly after, Squash came in and introduced Squashstep... by squashing Franklin L. Spud. Later, Skrillet was hit by Midget Apple's monster truck during a demonstration of Truckstep.
