Old Carrot was the secondary protagonist of the episode Orange Belt. Orange and Pear were about to be attacked by a bunch of other foods in a dark alley. Pear ran away in fright, but before Orange was attacked, Old Carrot came in and rescued him. The next day, Orange went to Old Carrot to ask if he could learn how to defend himself, but Old Carrot refused and explained that he wanted to continue being isolated from other vegetables like he had ever since an exceptional carrot student of his was eaten by a toddler in the grocery store. Orange explained that it wasn't his fault and that he may not have been able to teach him carrot-te, but he could still share his wisdom with others. Orange made a deal to stop annoying him if he taught him carrot-te. Old Carrot agreed and taught Orange the ancient art of carrot-te. However, he, too, was eaten by the same toddler that ate the exceptional student of his, which devastated Orange. Meanwhile, Pear felt guilty about leaving Orange behind, and wanted to make up for it. Grapefruit challenged him to a wrestling match in the grocery store, and Orange accepted it. Orange tried using what Sensei had taught him on Grapefruit, but Grapefruit's skills in fruit-jitsu were too advanced. Grapefruit had been disqualified for unfair play, but he refused to back down. Before Orange suffered an unholy fate, however, Pear came in and used his carrot-te on Grapefruit. Pear revealed that he was also a student of Old Carrot's, and that he learned that carrot-te wasn't about war, but was more about inner peace. Ironically, such power ran to his head very quickly, and he began attacking everyone in sight.
